Holiday Feelings

I am sitting here listening to Christmas music on the record player and drinking my fat free hot cocoa (with marshmallows of course). My husband took my to the local record store last weekend and we completely bought out the 99 cent bin of Christmas classics. Needless to say, I have enough music selections to last for the holidays. Last year Bing Crosby, White Christmas was a permanent staple on the player.

I am also pleased to announce that I found my New Year’s Eve dress! It screams “New Years” and it was a steal for only $15. I could not find the exact picture on the website, but imagine this dress with one shoulder. I plan on pairing it with black tights and my black bow ankle boots.

I am also very excited because Martha (as in Stewart) has come through for me again. I have all this wonderful extra fabric from the tote bags I have been making. She simply paired fabric with a light knit wool to make a scarf. I love it! I hope the next time I have some time to play, Ill get to experiment with this idea.

I was casually listening to the album “Winter Wonderland” by the Ray Charles singers when this song came on. Somewhere between “Let it Snow!” and “Jingle Bells”. I found it very amusing and thought I would share it with you.

Button Up Your Overcoat

Listen, big boy,
Now that you got me made,
Goodness, but I’m afraid,
Somethin’s gonna happen to you!
Listen, big boy,
You gotta be hooked, and how,
I would die if I should lose you now!

Button up your overcoat,
When the wind is free,
Take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!

Eat an apple every day,
Get to bed by three,
Oh, take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!

Be careful crossing streets, ooh-ooh,
Cut out sweets, ooh-ooh,
Lay off meat, ooh-ooh,
You’ll get a pain and ruin your tum-tum!

Wear your flannel underwear,
When you climb a tree,
Oh, take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!

Button up your overcoat,
When the wind is free,
Oh, take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!
Boop-boop-a-doop!

When you sass a traffic cop,
Use diplomacy;
Just take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!

Beware of frozen ponds, ooh-ooh,
Stocks and bonds, ooh-ooh,
Peroxide blondes, ooh-ooh,
You’ll get a pain and ruin your bankroll!

Keep the spoon out of your cup,
When you’re drinking tea,
Oh, take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!

Don’t sit on hornet’s tails, ooh-ooh!
Or on nails, ooh-ooh!
Or third rails, ooh-ooh!
You’ll get a pain and ruin your tum-tum!

Keep away from bootleg hooch
When you’re on a spree,
Oh, take good care of yourself,
You belong to me!

Glad to know I’m not the only one who enjoys classic Christmas records – they’re too wonderful to be sitting in a bin collecting dust. Currently on our player is one of Nat King Cole’s Christmas albums. Another favorite is Christmas with Frank & Bing – if you ever find it, buy it!
